The location of the position will be based on the location of the most qualified candidate.

A Business Taxes Specialist II in the Business Analytics Section (BAS), manages, evaluates, and provides support for the statewide compliance program.

In doing this, the incumbent will:

• Advise team members, management, and the public on compliance issues.
• Draft new and update existing compliance policies for management approval.
• Lead and participate in special projects impacting the compliance program.

Working in the BAS exposes team members to all aspects of compliance work, including, but not limited to, registration, account maintenance, and collections. Working in the section also allows opportunities to work closely with compliance team members from all over the agency, as well as exposure to senior management. Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change. Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California's Personal Leave Program.
