Telework/On-Site Opportunity

Eligible for limited telework one day per week after 6 months of employment. Telework must be from a designated home-based location within California. Telework is discretionary and may be rescinded with 48 hours' notice.

About the Opportunity

The Language Access Services unit ensures non‑English speaking participants in court proceedings have equal access to justice. The unit coordinates interpreter and language assistance services in court proceedings and at public service points. It provides access in more than 50 languages through professional interpreters, both court employees and contractors. The Court Interpreter Deputy Manager assists with daily operations of the Language Access Unit, ensuring staff supervision and scheduling align with efficient unit operations.

The incumbent manages interpreter coverage and reporting requirements, leads projects, and supports development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and standards for Language Access Services. The Deputy Manager prepares documents, recommends and develops procedures, and provides training to all staff levels. The incumbent also interacts with a variety of court staff, managers, and judicial officers.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of full‑time court management experience OR three (3) years of full‑time court supervisory experience OR two (2) years of full‑time court analyst experience supervising staff or a team OR five (5) years of full‑time interpreting experience in a California Court plus three (3) years of supervisory experience in a professional office or legal environment and a valid Certificate as a "Certified Court Interpreter" issued by the Judicial Council of California.

  • Knowledge and experience with court interpreter services in a coordinator or supervisory capacity.
Desired Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, criminal justice, behavioral science, or closely related field.
  • Certification from the Institute for Court Management as a Certified Court Management (CCM) or Certified Court Executive (CCE).
  • Completion of the Judicial Administration Program with an accredited college or university.
