Become a Grid SCADA Historian Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You will support the Distribution Aveva Pi Historian, a near real‑time data management platform that collects, stores, and visualizes data from industrial processes and equipment across the electric grid. In this role you will support situational awareness and critical analytics for SCE’s distribution system.

Typical Responsibilities Include
  • Translate business needs into operationally supportable designs.
  • Plan and execute both structured and unstructured testing.
  • Develop PI analytics and reporting to meet Transmission & Distribution (T&D) client requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, IT teams, and vendors to support the operation and maintenance of the existing PI Historian system.
  • Maintain and enhance scripts supporting the GridMS PI Historian environment.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with SCE standards, including regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Provide operations support, troubleshooting, integration testing and user training.
  • Perform technical analysis to define grid application requirements and updates.
  • Monitor and analyze energy usage data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Support the testing and implementation of new grid application releases.
  • Identify trends and root causes of issues, determine solutions, and make recommendations for management consideration.
  • Update, monitor and maintain the reliability of the grid application advance apps, and control application.
  • Identify and implement action plans to prevent future system issues.
  • Configure and modify grid application databases and ensure that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate.
  • Provide engineering support to grid operations by resolving complex issues via implementation of state‑of‑the‑art and new technologies.
  • Update, monitor project KPIs and maintain power system modeling, state estimator, contingency analysis and power flow analysis supporting real‑time operations.
  • Maintain protection of all physical, financial, cybersecurity assets, and manage highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three or more years of experience in designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex utility, real‑time or enterprise systems, or as a user of a utility grid application.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant IT or engineering experience focused on data or analytics solutions.
  • Experience implementing or administering AVEVA Pi Systems, including its architecture and change management process.
  • Development and scripting experience with shell scripts, .NET, and C#.
  • Experience with SCADA systems.
  • Background in data analysis and report development.
  • Experience with SQL.
Additional Information
  • Work mode is hybrid. Employees will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.
  • The primary work location is Santa Ana, CA.
  • This position is NERC/CIP impacted. Prior to hiring, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training before gaining un‑escorted access to the assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40 hours/5 days a week.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
