The Manual Machinist is responsible for producing, modifying, and repairing mechanical components using manual lathes, milling machines, and related equipment. This role requires a high degree of precision, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and hand‑sketched concepts. Basic knowledge of standard machine shop tools and practices is essential.

• Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment to manufacture or repair parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and hand sketches.
• Set up, align, and adjust machines and tooling for production runs.
• Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Perform minor assemblies as needed.
• Repair shafts and properly fit bearings.
• Apply knowledge of bearing tolerances and proper bearing installation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance personnel to improve machining processes.
• Document part measurements, adjustments, and other relevant information accurately.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

• Strong understanding of machining principles, methods, and tooling.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
• Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
• Ability to work in environments with noise and exposure to machining equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures in a machining environment.
• Availability to work Sundays when required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or a machining apprenticeship is preferred.
