Job Details:
- Set up and operate vertical and horizontal CNC machines with no supervision, applying machine shop theory and procedures to produce aerospace parts that meet blueprint and customer requirements.
- Perform accurate, timely setups using manufacturing setup books, shop aids, and customer data — without costly mistakes.
- Read programs and make manual edits to optimize performance (feeds, speeds, wasted air time), and update all edits in setup books before uploading to completed jobs.
- Work with program engineers to improve machining methods and recognize nonconforming programs before running first article parts.
- Apply expert knowledge of holding fixtures, cutting tools, cutter compensation, G codes, and M codes.
- Document revisions, part rollovers, and critical setup information in setup books to reduce future setup time.
- Expert blueprint reading and shop math; strong command of G/M codes, cutter compensation, and feeds/speeds optimization
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Machinist II through Machinist III / Lead considered depending on experience
Experience in any of the following areas welcomed:
- Life-limited or flight-critical aerospace parts
- Rotorcraft main rotor / power transmission components
- Landing gear, airframe structures, or composites
- First article / nonconforming program review
