Metrology Technician

Required:
Hands-on experience with Verisurf and/or Poly Works

We are seeking an experienced Metrology Technician to perform precision dimensional inspections in an aerospace or advanced manufacturing environment. This position uses CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers, and metrology software to verify that complex components, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures meet engineering and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong GD&T knowledge, experience working from engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, and proficiency with Verisurf, Poly Works, or both

• Perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers, and other precision measurement equipment.
• Program and operate Verisurf and/or Poly Works metrology software.
• Inspect complex composite and machined parts, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Establish coordinate systems and align parts using CAD models.
• Apply datum-based, best-fit, and iterative alignment methods.
• Generate accurate inspection reports and maintain measurement records.
• Support First Article Inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify and resolve dimensional issues.
• Assist with root-cause investigations and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Maintain metrology equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
• Follow applicable quality procedures, safety requirements, and aerospace standards.

• At least 3–5 years of dimensional inspection experience within aerospace, precision manufacturing, or a similar environment.
• Hands-on experience using Verisurf and/or Poly Works

• Experience operating one or more of the following:
• Coordinate Measuring Machines
• Articulated arms, such as Faro or Romer
• Laser trackers, such as Faro or Leica
• Strong understanding of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and 3D CAD models.
• Experience generating inspection reports and analyzing measurement data.
• Experience inspecting complex composite or machined components.
• Experience supporting First Article and production inspections.

• Associate degree or technical certification in metrology, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
• Formal training in CMM programming and operation.
• Experience with Solid Works, CATIA, NX, Creo, or similar CAD software.
• CMM programming certification in Verisurf, Hexagon, or an equivalent platform.
• Poly Works training or certification.
• Faro Arm or laser tracker training or certification.
• GD&T certification.
