About the RoleThe Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of people, property, and information within various environments across the United States. This position involves vigilant monitoring of premises to prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches. The Security Officer will respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, ensuring a secure environment for employees, visitors, and assets.
This role requires consistent communication with team members and law enforcement agencies when necessary, as well as detailed reporting of daily activities and irregularities. Ultimately, the Security Officer contributes to a safe and secure atmosphere that supports the operational success of the organization.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a security or related role.
- Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with security software and communication tools.
- Ability to use wireless technology and radio communication devices effectively.
- Physical ability to perform repetitive motions and climb stairs as required during patrols.
- Certification in security training or law enforcement.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with advanced surveillance systems and incident reporting software.
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Previous experience working in a corporate, healthcare, or government security environment.
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
- Operate and monitor security equipment such as surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and radios to maintain situational awareness.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and emergency responders using radio and oral communication skills.
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or alarms, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting daily activities, incidents, and any security breaches or safety concerns.
- Assist in enforcing company policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a secure environment.
- Climb stairs and navigate various terrains as part of routine patrols and emergency responses.
The Security Officer utilizes intermediate computer skills daily to operate security monitoring systems and document incidents accurately. Wireless technology and radio communication are essential for maintaining constant contact with team members and coordinating responses to security events. Oral communication skills are critical for interacting with the public, reporting incidents, and collaborating with emergency personnel.
