As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

About The Team

Anduril's Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials for cutting-edge defense hardware. The team is developing deployable static and moving surfaces, undersea and sea to air vehicles, and scaling these products in our new manufacturing facilities.

About The Job

We are seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team in Santa Ana, CA working in a cutting-edge production environment to advance the state-of-the-possible in maritime manufacturing. This role combines operations research, software engineering, and advanced simulation to build and maintain one integrated production schedule for the Protofactory. You will design and implement business process automation that connects all scheduling touch points from tickets and M&E deliveries to production starts and bar charts into a single source of truth.

This is not a traditional industrial engineering role; it is a digital-first, builder-oriented position.

What You'll Do
  • Fully automate large parts of the industrial engineering role.
  • Design, build, and maintain business process automation for full schedule management across platforms.
  • Implement and maintain one integrated master schedule for the Protofactory.
  • Build automated workflows connecting: tickets, M&E deliveries, production start events, bar charts, and reporting.
  • Develop advanced simulation models to test schedule scenarios, identify bottlenecks, and optimize flow.
  • Create data pipelines and dashboards that give real-time schedule visibility.
  • Work alongside the Protofactory Master Scheduler to translate scheduling logic into automated systems.
  • Apply operations research methods (optimization, queuing theory, discrete event simulation) to production planning problems.
  • Leverage AI/ML tools to accelerate automation development.
Required Qualifications
  • Operations research background, degree, or demonstrated expertise in OR, applied math, or industrial engineering with quantitative focus.
  • Software engineering proficiency; can write production-quality code (Python, SQL, or similar).
  • Digital native: comfortable building tools, writing scripts, using APIs, and working in code-first environments.
  • Experience with simulation (discrete event simulation, Monte Carlo, agent-based modeling).
  • Ability to translate complex scheduling logic into automated, maintainable systems.
  • Self-directed with strong problem-solving instincts.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with AI coding tools for rapid automation development.
  • Experience with production scheduling systems (ERP, MES, or custom scheduling platforms).
  • Background in manufacturing operations, even if limited.
  • Familiarity with visualization/graphics tools for schedule representation.
  • MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Experience building integrations across ticketing systems, procurement tools, and production tracking.
