The County of Santa Barbara is currently accepting applications to establish an employment list for Administrative Office Professional I/II positions. This list will be used to fill current and future full-time and part-time vacancies at various locations across the County, including Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Lompoc, Carpinteria, and more.   • Five (5) full-time positions in the Clerk-Recorder-Assessor’s Office based in Santa Barbara, CA

The Administrative Office Professional classification is utilized within 18 departments of the County of Santa Barbara. Each Administrative Office Professional position may be different depending on the needs of the department and the nature of the work that you will be performing.

Salary Information:

Administrative Office Professional I: Hourly rate of $24.28 - $29.19

Administrative Office Professional II: Hourly rate of $30.59 - $37.01

These restricted positions are regularly privy to the decisions or recommendations of County management affecting employer-employee relations. These employees are in the confidential-unrepresented bargaining unit.

Administrative Office Professionals are often the face of the County of Santa Barbara. The Examples of Duties will vary by position/department but generally include the following.

  • You will have direct interaction with the public by advising and/or guiding them to complete proper documents.
  • Common responsibilities include clerical-based administrative functions; answering phones; processing and/or responding to email inquiries; accepting, recording, and routing materials that come into the department; and filing and retrieving records and documents.
  • Use office software for data entry, document preparation, and email communication.
  • Review and process documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Provide courteous customer service by responding to routine inquiries and requests.
  • Organize and prioritize assigned work to meet deadlines and productivity expectations.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain professional working relationships.
