DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Project Engineer
PRIMARY PLACE OF WORK: Job site(s), government agency offices, construction trailer/staging areas, and executive offices.
SUMMARY: Assist Project Manager(s) and Superintendents with day-to-day involvement on projects to ensure that those projects meet the expectations of all the stakeholders involved.
REPORTS TO: Department Production Manager
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees, and/or clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or GED
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to their understanding
- Able to provide legible communication
- Able to compute basic mathematical calculations
- Able to work on your feet for extended periods of time
- Two (2) years of construction project engineer experience as an Assistant Project Manager
- Able to read, understand and interpret architectural plan sets
- Possess a technical understanding of commercial and residential construction codes, sequencing, and best building practices
- Able to gather information, prepare reports and communicate effectively
- Experience with complex and high-end projects
- Demonstrate experience and passion for quality building and client satisfaction
DESIRABLE
- Bachelors or BArch degree
- General Contractors License
- LEED AP designation and/or green building experience
- Previous experience in construction/project engineering
- Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish
- Certification in C.P.R.
- Able to enforce Allen Construction standards, policies, and procedures
- Able to prioritize and organize work assignments, delegate work, and follow-up as necessary to achieve desired results
- Able to motivate staff to develop and maintain a cohesive team
- Be a clear thinker and analyze and resolve problems while exercising good judgment
- Able to focus on attention on details
- Able to interact positively with difficult clients, subcontractors, and others
- Able to exert physical effort in carrying out daily duties
- Able to ensure security and confidentiality of client and company information
- Able to work without direct supervision
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of client requirements, construction documents, and subcontractor work
- Assist in ensuring compliance with codes, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate and assist in the administration of Change Orders
- Provide administrative and technical support for scheduling, tracking costs, subcontractor coordination, and general project issues
- Assist in ensuring a safe work environment
- Assist with trade invoice approval and processing, as well as client billings
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Respond to all cell phone calls and personal requests promptly
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, sit, squat, turn, bend, walk around construction sites, operate telephone and computer, see, speak, hear, write, and lift up to 35 pounds.
