Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $29.35 to $31.38 per hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $29.35 to $42.06 per hour.

Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Student Affairs Manager, the Undergraduate Program Advisor (UPA) provides undergraduate advising to more than 1,900 majors, transfer students, and prospective students in the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability. The UPA offers advice on degree requirements for six programs, recommends solutions to academic issues, and assists with curriculum planning, enrollment analysis, and course scheduling. The UPA also coordinates articulation, testing, outreach, recruitment, registration, orientation, degree certification, internships, scholarships, and career counseling.
The UPA is responsible for maintaining student records, supervising peer advisors, and supporting the Student Affairs Manager as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated independent problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow guidelines, meet deadlines, and maintain a schedule.
- 1–3 years of Administrative or Advising Experience.
- Excellent business writing skills.
- Ability to organize and process work with frequent interruptions.
- Able to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors on a variety of advising issues.
- Ability to communicate policy and procedures effectively.
- Attention to detail with the ability to pick up complexities quickly.
- Ability to follow through on tasks/projects completely.
- Ability to handle a diverse range of responsibilities simultaneously.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Acrobat X Pro, Google Apps, Facebook, Linked In, and Box.
- Proficient in UCSB Systems: GOLD, eGrades, AAA, STAR, Astra.
- Mandated reporting requirements of Child Abuse.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check.
