Position description

The Department Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) invites applications for the position of Continuing Educator III.

Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE), formerly known as UCSB Extension, has served the community for more than 75 years, extending the teaching mission of UC Santa Barbara beyond the campus. Over the past decade, PaCE has enrolled more than 20,000 students and community members. PaCE is a self‑supporting unit with more than 20 FTEs, over 100 instructors, and an annual budget approaching $10 million.

In addition, PaCE designs and delivers customized employee training programs for companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

The PaCE Associate Dean (Continuing Educator III) is responsible for independent administration, management, development and coordination of all academic programs offered by PaCE. As a member of the executive leadership team, this role plays a critical part in shaping Extension’s program growth and development strategy while overseeing a diverse portfolio of educational offerings that serve the needs of Santa Barbara, California, and beyond.

The Associate Dean serves as PaCE’s primary community liaison on‑ and off‑ campus, including peer Extensions.

    • Oversee the launching of new partnerships with educational institutions to offer joint certificates and programs.
    • Coordinate the resources so that PaCE can serve as a liaison to local workforce development organizations for developing programs for job‑market re‑entry.
