Essential Functions of Position
Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s in music
- Bachelor’s in music and Master’s in humanities
- The equivalent of the above, including a combination of education and other accomplishments. If claiming equivalency, submit a separate statement with supporting evidence such as transcripts, publications or other products.
- Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Music and evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
If the title of your degree as stated on your transcripts does not exactly match one of the degree titles listed above, you must request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents, including a completed SBCC Equivalency Crosswalk and a narrative synopsis, at the time of application.

Application Procedure:

The online District Application form must be complete and specific to indicate the education, experience and other qualifications of the applicant. If you apply for more than one position, attach all required documents separately for each position.
Selection Procedure:
The selection committee will review online applications. A teaching demonstration will be required for selected applicants. Interviews will be primarily remote; some final interviews may be conducted in person. The successful candidate’s name will be presented to the Board of Trustees for final approval.
