Part‑Time Instructor – Biological Sciences (Biomedical Sciences Specialization)
Job Type: Part‑time Credit Faculty

Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Department: Biological Sciences / Environmental Studies
Salary: $82.33 – $115.20 hourly.
Note: Starting credit rate: $102.90 lecture; $82.33 lab; with doctorate $107.87 lecture; $86.30 lab.
- Provide quality instruction and create an environment emphasizing teaching, learning, and discussion of ideas and issues.
- Primary duties related to curriculum and teaching, with responsibilities divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
- Be available to students outside of class to support learning.
- Laboratory experience in human anatomy, including work with cadavers.
- Experience teaching human anatomy and physiology concepts at the undergraduate level.
- Competent use of computer, multimedia equipment, and software to foster innovative teaching and learning environments.
- Commitment to pedagogies that consider diverse learning styles, cultures, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds.
- Teaching experience in anatomy, physiology, and general biology using inclusive instructional strategies.
- Laboratory expertise in human physiology and familiarity with computer‑based physiology programs such as Biopac.
- Experience developing distance education courses and teaching online.
- Experience using strategies and methods that enhance student learning and success.
- Knowledge of and experience using Student Learning Outcomes.
- Master's degree in any biological science, or Bachelor's with Master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science (or equivalent). A combination of education and accomplishments that is equivalent to the above may be accepted.
- Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Biological Sciences AND a Master's degree.
- Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
