Basic Functions

The starting rate for noncredit adjuncts is $73.59 per hour for lecture and $55.20 per hour for lab. If you hold an advanced degree, rates are $76.73 per hour (lecture) and $57.54 per hour (lab).

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications set by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors as detailed in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators handbook. Equivalent education and experience will be accepted upon submission of an Equivalency Application.

Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

If a degree title does not exactly match the titles listed in the minimum qualifications, an equivalency review must be requested and supporting documentation provided, including a completed SBCC Equivalency Cross‑walk and an explanatory synopsis.

For foreign transcripts, submit a course‑by‑course analysis and an equivalency statement from an official U.S. certified transcript evaluation service.

Letters of reference are not required.

Satisfactory fingerprint report and completed tuberculosis risk assessment.
Documentation verifying identity and U.S. citizenship or lawful authorization to work.
Official transcripts confirming college degrees indicated on the employment application.
