UCSB PaCE Part-Time Instructor - Project Management
Salary range: $1,500.00-$3,500.00 per course.

The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach on‑site and online courses in our Project Management programs. These courses emphasize applied learning and real‑world project scenarios. Instruction may incorporate Agile frameworks, modern collaboration tools, and emerging technologies such as AI‑assisted project management tools.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver course materials aligned with program learning objectives.
- Design assessments and engaging learning activities that support student learning and skill development.
- Update course content periodically to reflect evolving industry practices and program feedback.
- Communicate course expectations, learning objectives, and grading policies clearly to students.
- Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Employ inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners, including students with documented accommodations.
- Evaluate student performance and assign grades based on established learning outcomes.
- Submit final grades within university timelines and address student inquiries regarding course evaluation as needed.
- Maintain student records in accordance with University policies.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application): A bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, engineering, operations management, information systems, or a related discipline, or a relevant professional project management credential.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start): Minimum of 3 years of professional experience managing projects, programs, or project teams in a relevant professional field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in project management, business administration, or related discipline, or 5+ years of professional project management experience.
- Professional experience in areas such as project planning and scheduling, risk management and project controls, Agile or adaptive project management frameworks, program or portfolio management, and project governance or compliance.
- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred; candidates without current certification should demonstrate willingness to obtain certification prior to teaching.
- Prior teaching, training, or corporate facilitation experience.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, or similar) or willingness to learn.
