Basic Functions

Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Part‑time faculty instructional staff must be available to students outside of class. Candidates must provide proof of licensure.

Compensation

Starter non‑credit adjunct rate for licensure required positions at salary table 11: $102.90 per hour for lecture and $82.33 per hour for lab. If you have an advanced degree, the rate is $107.87 per hour for lecture and $86.30 per hour for lab.

Education and Experience
  • Any bachelor's degree AND two years of experience OR an associate degree AND six years of experience.
  • Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to all of the above.

For equivalency, submit an application for equivalency and evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds, including socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Equivalency review documents (completed SBCC Equivalency Crosswalk and narrative synopsis) must be submitted at the time of application.

Knowledge and Abilities

The work environment is indoor and outdoor instructional classroom work, subject to variable work hours, and driving a vehicle to conduct work. Physical demands include hearing, speaking, remaining stationary for extended periods, communicating, reaching overhead, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying materials, pushing and pulling tools, operating computer equipment, reading complex materials, and mobility across campus.
