Santa Barbara City College is seeking PT faculty for Older Adults - Self Management courses at the School of Extended Learning.
The starting noncredit adjunct rate from salary table 25 is $73.59 per hour for Lecture and $57.54 per hour for Lab. If you have an advanced degree, the rate is $76.73 per hour for Lecture and $55.20 per hour for Lab.
Representative Duties- Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
- Plan lessons and prepare instructional materials including syllabus.
- Utilize technology as part of classroom instruction.
- Monitor student progress and modify approaches as needed for effectiveness.
- Option A:
- Thirty hours or two semester units of coursework or class work in understanding the needs of older adults taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district; or
- One year of professional experience working with older adults.
- Option B:
- Associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, and sixty hours or four semester units of coursework or class work in understanding the needs of older adults taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district.
- Previous teaching experience to adults who are entering, re-entering, upskilling, or transforming within the workplace.
- Sensitivity to and respect of the diverse and wide range of students in class.
- Ability to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion in class.
