Live-IN Private Educator for 2e High Schooler:
Advanced Math/Chemistry + Dyslexia/Reading Intervention | 2e Student

The Modulo team is conducting a search for an exceptional private educator with an unusual combination of advanced STEM expertise and substantial experience in reading intervention to work one-on-one with a gifted, twice-exceptional high school student.

The student is exceptionally advanced in mathematics, highly curious, and entrepreneurial. At the same time, he has significant reading-based learning disabilities and needs meaningful support with reading, written language, executive functioning, organization, and focus.

We are specifically seeking an educator who understands the complexity of a 2e profile
, including the enormous discrepancy that can exist between a student's advanced mathematical and conceptual reasoning and their literacy skills.

This position requires strength in BOTH advanced STEM and reading intervention. Candidates whose experience is exclusively in one area will not be a fit.

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Teach AP Calculus and highly advanced high school mathematics to a gifted math student.
  • Teach AP Chemistry and support rigorous high school science coursework.
  • Provide skilled, individualized support for a student with significant reading difficulties.
  • Demonstrate verifiable experience with reading intervention
, such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Barton, structured literacy, educational therapy, or another evidence-based approach to dyslexia and reading disabilities.
  • Understand giftedness, twice-exceptionality, asynchronous development, dyslexia, ADHD/executive functioning challenges, and neurodiversity.
  • Adapt intellectually advanced material so that a student's reading disability does not limit access to sophisticated ideas.
  • Support executive functioning, including planning, organization, focus, task initiation, time management, prioritization, and follow-through.
  • Provide structure and accountability in a way that is encouraging, respectful, and appropriate for a highly intelligent teenager.
  • Support a student who is entrepreneurial, independent-minded, and motivated by meaningful real-world projects.
The role

This educator will serve as the student's primary private teacher, learning specialist, mentor, and educational program manager
.

In addition to direct teaching, responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and managing an individualized homeschool program.
  • Coordinating any additional tutors, specialists, mentors, or educational therapists.
  • Managing the student's academic and extracurricular schedule.
  • Researching and coordinating high-quality social, academic, and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Helping the student pursue an entrepreneurial project, including breaking ambitious goals into concrete steps, identifying appropriate resources and mentors, organizing meetings, and following through on projects.
  • Accompanying and driving the student to classes, extracurricular activities, meetings, and educational opportunities.
  • Communicating regularly with the family about progress, priorities, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Helping the student become increasingly independent and develop strong systems for managing his own learning and life.

The family is looking for someone who can combine very high academic expectations with patience, warmth, flexibility, and a sophisticated understanding of neurodivergence
.

The right educator will see the student's learning differences clearly while never underestimating his intellectual ability.

Required experience

Candidates should have:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching gifted or highly advanced mathematics
, ideally through AP Calculus or beyond.
  • Ability to teach AP Chemistry
    .
  • Verifiable professional experience providing reading intervention to students with dyslexia or significant reading disabilities
    .
  • Significant experience with gifted, twice-exceptional, or neurodivergent adolescents
    .
  • Strong understanding of executive functioning and strategies for supporting attention, organization, and independent work.
  • Experience working effectively one-on-one with teenagers.
  • Excellent organizational and…
