Assistant Planner: $43.86 - $53.32

Associate Planner: $47.51 - $57.75

The Position

The Creeks Division is seeking a permanent part-time (50%) employee to review development plans for compliance with the City’s Storm Water Management Program. This employee will also review applications and support applicants participating in the City’s Sustainable Storm Water Rebate Program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and/or demonstrated interest in surface water quality improvement and storm water resource management.

Essential

Functions
  • Review and analyze land development applications for compliance with the City’s Storm Water Management program and Creek Buffer requirements.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings and site plans. Conduct site research, collaborate with Creeks Division staff and other City departments on project review. Verify calculations to ensure stormwater control measures (BMPs) are sized appropriately.
  • Track projects, manage deadlines, respond to applicant inquiries, and document review activity in spreadsheets and City databases.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by being attentive, understanding, responsive, fair, courteous, and respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment.
  • Conduct site visits with project applicants as required.
  • Conduct site visits and provide guidance to storm water rebate program applicants.
  • Respond to questions from the general public and assist in process improvements.
  • Perform related work, such as assisting with Creeks Division projects and programs, administrative duties, and community engagement, as required.
Knowledge of
  • Principles and practices of storm water resource management
  • Principles and practices of watershed protection, natural resource management, urban planning and development, and/or landscape architecture
  • Low-impact development, blue green infrastructure, best management practices, and/or stormwater control measures
  • Municipal, state, and federal codes, regulations, and guidelines
  • Basic math and geometry
  • Planning and building permitting processes and procedures
  • General engineering principles
  • Modern office equipment, including computers and applicable software

  • Work independently, under general supervision
