Opto-Mechanical Engineer Stf | Lockheed Martin
You will be the Opto-Mechanical Engineer– Santa Barbara Focal Plane Infrared Sensors for Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control. Our team creates and implements cutting edge IR sensor technologies, advancing high performance cryogenic focal plane assemblies while sustaining existing production lines. What You Will Be Doing As the Opto-Mechanical Engineer, you will own the end to end mechanical development of infrared sensor hardware.
You'll partner with electrical, systems, test and manufacturing engineers, as well as suppliers, to move designs from concept through pilot builds and into full rate production. Your responsibilities will include developing mechanical concepts, solid modeling assemblies, and creating detailed 3D CAD models. Performing tolerance stack up, thermal, and structural analyses to verify performance under cryogenic and space flight conditions. Preparing manufacturing ready drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and technical data packages.
Collaborating with suppliers to qualify parts, resolve design issues, and ensure manufacturability. Working with the manufacturing team to transition pilot build prototypes to high rate production, including build up procedures and tooling requirements. Supporting test activities by providing mechanical integration expertise and troubleshooting hardware anomalies. Maintaining design documentation and configuration control in accordance with Lockheed Martin standards. Contributing to interdisciplinary trade studies that balance performance, cost, and schedule objectives.
