Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $97,200 to $103,325/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $97,200 to $182,000/year.

Brief Summary ofJob Duties
Under the general direction of the Travel, Disbursements, and Tax Manager, the UCSB Tax Compliance Analyst has major campus responsibilities for tax compliance and performs complex financial analysis and reporting. Provides tax leadership to the campus in areas of taxation in order to improve compliance and minimize the university's overall tax liability in a manner consistent with the organizational objectives. Prepare tax returns and related reports necessary for external and internal compliance requirements;
provide tax advisory services to departmental personnel and visiting Researchers/Speakers in a variety of tax areas, including but not limited to;
Unrelated Business Income, International, Tax Treaties, Employment, Independent Contractors, Non-Resident Aliens, Sales and Use, eWaste, and Property Tax. Lead Administrator for UCSB Glacier tax compliance software system. Assist with implementation of new tax software systems and interfaces.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training or
- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 4-6 years Progressively responsible professional experience in tax compliance, accounting, finance, or a related field, preferably within a large, complex organization such as a university, governmental entity, or similarly regulated environment.
- 4-6 years Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing tax returns and compliance reports in accordance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- 4-6 years Working knowledge of multiple tax areas, which may include employment taxes, independent contractors, sales and use tax, property tax, and unrelated business income.
- 4-6 years Experience performing financial analysis and reporting, including interpreting tax laws and regulations and applying them to institutional or operational activities.
- 4-6 years Experience working with international tax issues, including nonresident alien taxation, tax treaties, and payments to foreign individuals or entities, is highly desirable.
- 4-6 years Proven ability to provide tax guidance and advisory support to non-financial stakeholders, including departmental personnel and other campus constituents.
1-3 years Experience serving as a functional lead or system administrator for tax-related software systems (e.g., Glacier or similar tax compliance platforms), including system implementation, configuration, testing, and ongoing support.
