Utility Construction Laborer / Pipelayer / Equipment Operator
Laborer Responsibilities
- Perform hand excavation
- Use various hand tools, air tools, and power tools
- Conduct traffic control in accordance with safety regulations
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
- Stock work trucks and assist with routine truck maintenance
- Assist pipelayers during excavation and installation operations
Pipelayer Responsibilities
- Install wet and dry utility piping systems
- Cut and fabricate pipe and fittings
- Grade trenches and set laser/string lines
- Read and interpret job plans and specifications
- Drive company vehicles, including dump trucks
- Participate in and assist with on-the-job training
Equipment Operator Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavation and earth-moving equipment
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safe operating conditions
- Identify, order, and install machine parts as needed
- Comply with all safety and operational standards
General Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in utility installation or utility construction (role dependent)
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Drug-free workplace compliance
- Reliable transportation
- Trainable and willing to participate in on-the-job training
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Pipelayer Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in utility installation
- Proficient in connecting all types of wet and dry utility piping
- Skilled in cutting and fabricating various piping materials
Operator Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating equipment in utility construction
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and safety requirements

PositionTerms / Expected Hours Of Work
- Marcon Eng. salaried employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. During a busy season, this position may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
