About the Role:The Alarm Technician 1 plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of residential and commercial properties by installing, maintaining, and repairing alarm systems. This position requires a thorough understanding of alarm system components, wiring, and programming to deliver reliable and effective security solutions. The technician will work closely with clients to assess their security needs and provide expert recommendations tailored to each unique environment.
Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to prevent system failures and ensure optimal performance. Ultimately, the Alarm Technician 1 contributes to protecting people and property by delivering high‑quality alarm system services with professionalism and technical expertise.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Experience with alarm system installation or maintenance, either through previous employment or technical training.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- BSIS-ACE License
- Certification from a recognized alarm technician program or association
- Experience with networked security systems and IP‑based alarm technologies.
- Familiarity with local and national fire and security codes.
- Strong customer service experience in a technical field.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
- Install, test, and maintain various types of alarm systems including burglar alarms, fire alarms, and access control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or replacements of components.
- Program and configure alarm control panels and related devices according to manufacturer specifications and client requirements.
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to clients on system operation and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, installations, and repairs, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and local codes during installation and service activities.
The Alarm Technician 1 utilizes technical skills daily to install and configure complex alarm systems, ensuring all components function seamlessly together. Troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing issues quickly and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime. Communication skills are used to explain system features and maintenance procedures clearly to clients, enhancing customer satisfaction. Organizational skills help maintain detailed service records and manage multiple service calls efficiently.
