The plumber designs, redesigns, and assembles piping systems from working drawings and blueprints. Responsibilities include installing and repairing water, steam, sanitary and storm drains, irrigation and sprinkler systems, compressed airlines, and related piping systems. The role requires thorough knowledge of building and safety codes, the ability to work from blueprints, create working drawings, and perform calculations for pipe sizing related to pressure and flow.
Tasks also involve welding, soldering, brazing, and installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, air compressors, pumps, steam and hot water boilers.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3‑5 years of Journeyman level experience
- Thorough knowledge of building and safety codes
- Ability to work from blueprints and create working drawings
- Proficiency in pipe sizing calculations for pressure and flow
- Proficiency in welding, soldering, brazing, and installation/repair of plumbing fixtures, air compressors, pumps, steam and hot water boilers
- Must be able to take night and weekend call‑backs; days and hours may vary to meet operational needs
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and comply with local policies, or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Must pass a satisfactory criminal history background check

Job Functions & Percentages Of Time- 90% Technical – Design, redesign, assemble, and repair piping systems, including welding, soldering, brazing, inspection, and instruction of assistants
- 10% General, Safety & Security – Communicate with dispatcher and supervisors via cell phone; participate in safety and professional training; adhere to safety regulations; report accidents; lock areas and keep vehicle locked; maintain safety practices and record‑keeping
