A well-established organization in the construction and mechanical services industry is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their accounting team. This is a hands-on payroll role responsible for processing weekly payroll while supporting both union and non-union employees. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience and be comfortable working with union agreements, certified payroll, wage rates, and fringe benefits.

- Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for union and non-union employees
- Review and interpret union agreements, wage rates, benefit requirements, and fringe calculations
- Calculate regular wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments
- Process and maintain certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
- Prepare union reports and coordinate benefit payments
- Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with applicable union agreements and company policies
- Review payroll for accuracy and audit payroll records to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with general ledger reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records
- Work closely with HR, accounting, employees, and field teams to resolve payroll questions and issues
- Assist with payroll reporting, audits, year-end processes, and tax-related requirements
- Stay current on changes to union agreements, wage rates, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements
- Help identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency
- 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience
- Strong union payroll experience required
- Certified payroll and/or prevailing wage experience required
- Construction, mechanical, skilled trades, or another project-based environment strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll calculations, overtime, deductions, fringes, and payroll compliance
- Experience working with multiple union agreements or wage schedules
- Experience with payroll and/or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage confidential employee information
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with HR, accounting, and operations
