This is a seasonal, full-time role from Monday to Friday (5 days per week) during the summer, working with the same camper group for the week and focusing on safety, engagement, and personal development.
As a Summer Camp Counselor (Team Leaders, as Galileo calls them), you’ll be a core presence for each camper, guiding them through a safe, engaging, and impactful summer experience.
Core Responsibilities- Lead and supervise campers: Supervise groups of 15+ campers weekly, create a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp experience; foster group connection through activities and daily interactions; support campers with restorative practices and individualized guidance as needed; collaborate with instructors to deliver Galileo’s project-based curriculum (STEM).
- Engage in all camp activities: Plan, set up, and run daily activities; lead campers during ceremonies, activities, snack, and lunch; participate in camp songs, chants, and skits to energize opening and closing moments.
- Provide exceptional customer service: Greet campers and families warmly; follow check-in/check-out procedures; communicate with families about camper experiences as needed.
- Build skills with training and support: Complete paid online training before camp starts; attend two in-person setup/training days; develop professionally through feedback and ongoing training.
- Your exact pay is determined by location and tenure, with pay ranges from $17.25 to $22.51 per hour

- All camps run Monday–Friday. Shifts vary by position and location and can start as early as 7:00 a.m. and end as late as 6:30 p.m.
- Staff must complete online training and attend two pre-camp setup days (set-up days may occur on weekends).
- Camp start dates and duration vary by location. See your location for site-specific dates.
- Experience supervising groups of 10+ children is preferred; 1 year (or camp season) experience in summer camp, school, childcare, tutoring, coaching, after-school programs, or related fields is desirable.
- College coursework in Education or Child Development is a plus but not required.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks with urgency and enthusiasm; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Ability to access and use web-based tools via a personal device; ability to complete pre-camp tasks including background checks, certifications, and onboarding before camp starts.
- Availability to work 8-hour shifts Monday–Friday for the duration of camp; must be available for a minimum of 4 continuous weeks overlapping with camp operations (full duration preferred).
- Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2026.
