Position: Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP) - Fall 2026

Are you eager to teach at a Community College that promotes and upholds values for accessibility and belonging? The West Valley-Mission Community College District (WVMCCD) seeks individuals who will help create an educational community where students from various backgrounds can pursue their ambitions while feeling supported and connected.

WVMCCD is accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP).

The program provides practical teaching experience and professional development while mentoring aspiring faculty members who will learn to teach effectively in diverse California Community College settings. The program offers tracks for both instructional and non-instructional faculty, including academic counseling and library services.

Program Overview

* Duration:
One semester (Fall 2026)

* Stipend: $2,000 for the semester

* Time Commitment:
Participants must complete 60 hours of program activities, including classroom instruction and mentor meetings.

* Training & Workshops:
The program requires interns to attend eight professional development in-person training sessions, which must be completed at either West Valley College or Mission College on the following dates:

* Tuesday, August 18, 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM

* Tuesday, September 1, 2:30 PM- 4:00 PM

* Tuesday, September 15, 2:30 PM- 4:00 PM

* Tuesday, October 6, 2:30 PM- 4:00 PM

* Tuesday, October 20, 2:30 PM- 4:00 PM

* Tuesday, November 3, 2:30 PM- 4:00 PM

* Week of November 17, Time TBD by your schedule, via ZOOM

* Tuesday, December 1, 2:30 PM-4:00 PM

Interns will gain experience by observing experienced faculty members while they teach and participate in mentorship discussions and specialized workshops covering:

* Equity-driven teaching and student engagement strategies.

* Curriculum design, assessment, and instructional best practices.

* Ways to recognize hidden prejudices as well as strategies to create educational spaces that welcome all students.

* Effective classroom communication and pedagogy.

* Mock interview preparation for future faculty roles.
