Position SummaryThe Department of Fire Protection Technology invites applications for a full‑time, 10‑month, tenure‑track faculty position starting Fall 2026. The role involves comprehensive classroom instruction for students of diverse backgrounds, facilitating academic and vocational success.
AssignmentThis full‑time, 10‑month tenure‑track faculty position begins Fall 2026. Instructional assignments may include day and/or evening classes Monday through Saturday as needed, with rotation among Fire Protection Technology faculty. All levels of Fire Protection Technology offered at the college will be taught.
Salary and BenefitsAnnual Salary Range (10 months): $97,318 – $157,048 (accrued annually, based on academic achievement and teaching experience). Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Master’s degree with two (2) years of professional experience, or bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of professional experience, or equivalent. - License: CA Specialized Training Institute (CSTI), Emergency Management Instructor Certification (EMIC), or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disabilities, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Master’s in Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Preparedness, Crisis Management, Disaster Management, Cybersecurity, Fire Protection Engineering, Public Administration with Fire & Emergency Services specialization, Fire Science, Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Engineering, or related field.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation, in‑class activities, student evaluation, consultation, and maintaining currency in the subject matter.
- Maintain accurate class records and submit required reports such as attendance, grade reports, rosters, schedules.
- File syllabi with appropriate division offices; provide students with current course syllabi meeting Title 5 requirements.
- Post and maintain weekly office hours.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources.
- Assist students with advice on professional and academic requirements.
- Assume institutional responsibilities essential to ongoing operation and effectiveness of department, division, college, and district programs.
