Full‑time, 10‑month, tenure‑track instructor coaching Tennis at Mission College and West Valley College.
Position SummaryThe role is a head tennis coaching assignment for both men’s and women’s tennis, including supervision of athletes, organization of practices, scheduling of games, creation and management of a year‑round strength and conditioning program, coordination of recruitment and retention of student‑athletes, representation at college, conference, and mandatory governing body meetings, compliance with Washington State community college rules, oversight of the Tennis program budget, leadership of the overall program, public relations and fundraising activities, support of the athletic department, coordination of athletic tutoring, recruitment, training, and oversight of assistant coaches, participation in professional development, and additional duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and institutional needs.
Responsibilities- Supervise athletes, organize practices, schedule games, and oversee coaching staff.
- Create and implement a year‑round strength and conditioning program.
- Manage the Tennis program budget.
- Provide leadership and direction for the program, including public relations and fundraising.
- Support the athletic department through tutoring coordination and other support roles.
- Recruit, train, and oversee assistant coaches.
- Participate continuously in professional development activities.
- Perform any additional duties required by contract or institutional needs.
- Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation, in‑class activities, evaluation of students’ work, and consultation outside of class.
- Maintain accurate class records and submit required reports (attendance, grades, rosters, schedules).
- File syllabus for each course with the appropriate division offices.
- Post and maintain office hours each week.
- Provide students with a current course syllabus and reference required policies.
- Refer students to college resources and provide academic advice.
- Assume institutional responsibilities essential to the effective operation and achievement of department, college, and district programs.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
- $97,318 – $157,048 annually (10 months), based upon academic achievement, teaching, and related experience.

- Education – Possess one of the following:
• Any bachelor’s degree(s) or higher and two years of related professional experience;
• Any associate degree and six years of related professional experience;
• A valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Coaching;
• The equivalent of the above. - Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Proven success recruiting high‑caliber student‑athletes from premier club and high‑school programs.
- Master’s degree in Kinesiology preferred.
