Position Title
Part‑Time Psychology Instructor (Pool)
AssignmentThis position is a part‑time associate instructor in psychology. Teaching assignments may include lecture‑discussion courses during the day, evening, Saturday, or online/distance education. Assignments are for Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters as needed.
Work location:
Mission College, Santa Clara, CA.
Salary is based on a percentage of workload up to 67% of a full‑time load, prorated from an initial hiring salary range of $36,191 – $52,297 per semester. Benefits are provided per district policy.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Master’s degree in psychology, or bachelor’s degree in psychology plus master’s in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work, or a valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Psychology, or equivalent. - Demonstrated ability to effectively teach, counsel, or work with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation for in‑class or online activities, evaluation of student work, consultation with students, and maintaining currency in the subjects taught.
- Maintain accurate class and other records required by the college.
- Submit attendance rosters and grade reports when due.
- Follow course outlines filed in the instruction offices.
- Maintain office hours each week (0.5 hours per week per section).
- Observe, support, and enforce regulations, policies and programs of the District and college.
- Provide each student with a written course syllabus at the beginning of the course per Faculty Handbook.
- Refer students to appropriate college sources for counseling and other student services.
- Assist students by advising on requirements for successful achievement in their area of expertise.
- Work cooperatively within the college community.
- Foster an environment that protects academic freedom.
- Foster a positive working environment free from harassment, prejudice, and bias.
- Demonstrate respect for the dignity of each individual.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
