Requirements / Qualifications

Key areas of responsibility include but are not limited to assisting in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children; keeping children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction, and practicing good health habits; assisting in creating exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences; communicating regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development;

working collaboratively with other staff by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player;
Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community and each other; and knowledge or understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, PITC, Preschool Learning Foundations, Desired Results Developmental Profile, Teaching Pyramid and Inclusive practices preferred.

Education and Experience:

12 or more college semester credits or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood or Child Development education at an accredited or approved college or university, including 3 units in Infant care and education is required. Valid CA Associate Teacher Child Development permit desired (Required for funded programs); 1-2 years of experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old in an infant, toddler, or preschool early learning or group childcare program;

CPR and First Aid Certified; must be able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam; must be able to walk, squat, bend, and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.
