PURPOSE:
To provide process engineering expertise for die attach, wire bond, fiber splicing and optical packaging processes supporting new customer accounts in the Advanced Packaging area at Fabrinet West.
ACCOUNTABILITIES / DUTIES:
- Develop and optimize die attach and wire bond processes for prototype, NPI, and production assemblies in the advanced packaging cleanroom.
- Create and qualify machine/process recipes for die bonder, wire bonder, plasma cleaner, epoxy dispenser, and active optical alignment equipment.
- Create, improve and document optical splicing and routing for fiber optics box build assembly.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process excursions.
- Establish inspection criteria, acceptance procedures, and metrology methods for optical and photonic sub-assemblies.
- Develop and refine assembly methodologies for optical edge coupling, fiber splicing, die polishing, and box build processes to ensure repeatability and robustness.
- Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, engineering specifications, PFMEAs, and control plans.
Engage with customer to drive all activities and ensure smooth development possible.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
(include experience required with specific software applications, equipment, or specific certifications and education requirements such as MSME, MSEE, APICS, etc)
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands‑on process engineering experience in micro‑electronic device assembly and/or opto‑electronics manufacturing environment with automated equipment (die attach, wire bond).
- Experience in programming and operation in one or more of following equipment:
Besi Data Con, MRSI, ASM wire bonders iHawk & Eagle series, F&K Delvotec G5 - Experience with epoxy dispense methods (time/pressure, positive displacement, stamping).
- Experience with splicing operations and fiber routing for box build assemblies.
- Experience with edge coupling, fiber array alignment process.
Good understanding of GR&R, CpK, and process control statistical analysis.
Education or Training: BS degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, or Physics.
