We are looking for a Vehicle Integration Engineer to join the Autonomous Vehicle Operations Team. You will be working in one team with our automotive technicians and closely with senior engineers responsible for developing and maintaining our autonomous driving platform (incl. sensors like cameras, LiDAR, radar, USS, GPS and others). We focus on reported vehicle platform issues, and you will triage those in the vehicle.
You will help build, test and maintain the system and make it work flawlessly and safely on our driving platform. You are encouraged to have strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Previous hands‑on experience installing, fixing, and updating (autonomous) vehicle hardware as well as in-depth experience fixing automotive bus systems (e.g. CAN, Ethernet) is a requirement. Experience with autonomous vehicle sensor suite hardware and automotive mechanical and electrical systems is highly valued!
This is a hands‑on automotive systems integration and troubleshooting role focused on autonomous vehicle platforms
. The person is effectively the first responder for any vehicle hardware, sensor, communication, or ECU issue. They are doing real mechanical/electrical work on the cars themselves
, plus debugging high‑tech AV hardware/software.
This is NOT software development.
This is NOT purely mechanical tech work.
It is a hybrid hardware+vehicle systems+diagnostics role
.
- Debug/maintain and integrate systems into vehicle platforms
- Triage reported in‑vehicle issues (that could be related to sensors, vehicle ECUs, vehicle communication, data logging equipment, software and more)
- Solve vehicle communication issues, design solutions and raise incidents where necessary
- Be hands‑on (incl. disassembling) in vehicles to determine root causes of reported issues
- Be the “first responder” for vehicle issues
- Raise suggestions for improvements to avoid reoccurring issues with the platform
- Hands‑on experience in diagnosing automotive bus systems and working on vehicles (disassembling and assembling parts of the vehicle) and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
- Bachelor in Engineering field (Automotive, electric, IT, or similar) or equivalent experience
- In‑depth experience with ECU communication/protocols/technologies (e.g. CAN, Flex Ray, Ethernet)
- Experience with diverse automotive sensors incl. radars, cameras, ultrasonic and LiDAR
- Must possess a good technical problem solving ability and attitude
- Extended computer (ECU flashing, IP/Ethernet, Linux command line experience) and excellent communication skills required
- Flexibility to work weekend shifts and/or evening shifts
- Computer‑savvy, ideally experience with scripting languages and Linux OS
- Excellence in trouble shooting and problem solving of Automotive Electronics installations
- Experience with state‑of‑the‑art automotive bus analyzing tools (e.g. Vector CANoe/CANalyzer)
- Worked with latest sensor technology for autonomous driving platforms incl. sensor calibrations
