Process Engineer, Chemical Engineer
Position Description
Oklo is searching for a Process Engineer to join our Fuel Recycling engineering team. The person in this role is responsible for conducting design, development, prototyping, and validation work on key chemical separation subsystems and supporting systems for Oklo’s fuel recycling facility. These subsystems may include pyroprocessing, off-gas separation, and waste immobilization. The role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams focused on facility design, unit process equipment design, and licensing.
SpecificResponsibilities
- Developing systems that meet facility and regulatory requirements
- Defining system and unit process requirements and validation methodologies
- Establishing performance criteria, test protocols, and prototyping equipment
- Developing technical parameters and deploying and operating test systems to refine system design and operation
- Completing equipment sizing and specifications and developing instrumentation process data specifications
- Developing process flow sheets and heat and material balances using process simulation tools
- Developing and maintaining process and instrumentation diagrams
- Generating documentation to guide the fabrication, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of subsystems
- Serving as a technical lead through multiple lifecycle stages
- Generating technical documentation to be included in regulatory filings
- Degree in chemical engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience in chemical engineering or related field
- Experience using Aspen Tech, ChemCAD, Promax, automation, Excel, Python, etc., for process and equipment design, reliability studies, and economic analysis
- Experience deploying or working on pilot plants and scaling from demonstration to industrial scale at brown/green field sites
- Commercial or government nuclear industry experience
- Passionate about clean energy

Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, CA twice a quarter, and must be present in person for the first two weeks of onboarding.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary: $100,000–$160,000. Benefits include flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401(k), health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.
