As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications.

You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.

Applied Materials is looking for a  
** Mechanical Engineer
** who is an effective problem solver and system thinker. In this role, you will  
** own the end‑to‑end design, development, and validation of hardware
** required to enable  
** Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
** processes.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will develop technical solutions by generating root‑cause hypotheses, brainstorming design concepts as part of a cross‑functional team and performing hands‑on testing to validate solutions. You will be instrumental in enabling key technologies and developing equipment that powers the  
** next generation of advanced semiconductor chips and displays
** used in  
** Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality
** applications.

** Key Responsibilities*
* + Technically lead engineering projects and  
** own end‑to‑end execution** , delivering complete solutions for technical problems of varying complexity.

+ Deconstruct  
** on‑wafer performance requirements
** into clear engineering design requirements and collaborate with different engineering disciples like Process Engineering team to develop solutions that meet or exceed those requirements.

+ Identify  
** design tradeoffs and technical risks** , evaluate alternatives, and select the optimal path to solution.

+ Perform engineering analyses (e.g.,  
** tolerance, thermal, structural, flow** ) to demonstrate designs will meet functional and performance objectives.

+ Work with internal subject‑matter experts and external suppliers to design systems and components that achieve performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

+ Plan and execute  
** structured experiments and validation tests
** to characterize performance, establish operating windows, and define design margins.

+ Analyze experimental and field data using tools such as  
** JMP and Microsoft Excel
** to identify trends, assess statistical significance, and draw sound engineering conclusions.

+ Validate solutions using  
** first‑principles hand calculations
** and simulation tools (e.g.,
