Nexthop Systems Inc. is seeking an electrical design validation engineer to validate next-generation high-capacity networking systems for emerging AI infrastructures. In this role, you'll combine technical expertise with innovative problem-solving to plan & execute all the qualifications of cutting-edge system designs that meet the demands of advanced data centers and telecom environments.
What You'll Do
- Develop detailed test plans to characterize and validate systems, subassemblies or components as per industry or internal specifications by working closely with HW design (electrical, thermal, power, optics etc.)
- Support HW bring up, and contract manufacturing NPIE with any electrical qualifications, debugging and test script support
- Work closely with the cross-functional teams to co-ordinate test cost, schedule and address cross-functional dependencies e.g. HW allocation, SW readiness.
- Procure test equipment and resources to complete scheduled tests in a timely manner
- Analyze test results, find product design issues, log bugs using tracking software, report realtime status with adequate details, recommend corrective action, drive resolution and verify fixes
- Review, edit, and release test reports for the products tested
- Evaluate technical readiness prior to release to manufacturing
- Learn and improve test cost, consistency, and efficiency proactively
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical design validation for telecom or data center product development.
Skills:
- Solid understanding of networking product design & operation
- Strong knowledge of hardware environmental stress testing through voltage and temperature margin using automated test scripts using Python
- Experience with configuring networking products using OS & traffic generator (IXIA, Smartbits etc) to run different types of traffic and protocols to stress critical components, optical modules, interfaces, data and control paths
- Ability to automate test setup to control devices under test, environmental test chambers, test equipment (traffic generator, scope etc.)
- Familiarity with signal & power integrity, reliability and quality
- Hands-on experience with HW bring up e.g. I2C, PCIe, SMBUS, SERDES, & SOC
- Working knowledge of various optics types OSFP, QSFP etc
- Conducting Electrical & Environmental stress tests using automated script and environmental chambers
- Writing test script to control test equipments
- Configuring networking products using standalone diagnostic and OS
- Debugging issues found during testing using high speed scope, & logic analyzer
- Testing various optical modules & liquid cool products is a plus
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
