Position
Fire Protection Engineer – Oklo. Immediate fill.
Position DescriptionFire Protection Engineers at Oklo are responsible for the design and development of the fire protection systems in Oklo's power plants.
Responsibilities- Establish fire protection requirements that inform plant design.
- Develop Fire Hazard Analyses, Fire Protection Program, First Safe Shutdown Analyses, and other licensing and design documentation.
- Define equipment architecture, specifications, operational modes, and performance criteria.
- Lead the design of fire protection equipment.
- Perform commissioning and testing of fire protection systems.
- Manage projects with third‑party fire protection consultants.
- Document work using modern tools and techniques, and compose well‑written, thoughtful technical reports.
- Engineering education, potentially in Fire Protection, Nuclear, Chemical, or Mechanical.
- Experience performing design of fire protection systems in the nuclear, petroleum, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Broad familiarity with engineering principles and strong systems engineering and operations intuition.
- Knowledgeable in nuclear facility fire protection design and operations under an NRC or DOE license.
- Experience with NFPA 804 or NFPA 850.
- Experience with IBC or IFC standards.
- Passionate about making advanced fission a reality.
- Willing and able to learn quickly.

Travel RequirementsRemote employees are required to travel to headquarters (Santa Clara, CA) twice a quarter and attend onboarding onsite for the first two weeks.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $80,000 – $155,000, dependent on experience. Oklo offers flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401(k), health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.
Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening, and employees may be subject to drug testing at any time in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
