Purpose

The Systems Test Engineer is responsible for system‑level testing and characterization of capital equipment products that consist of software, electrical, and electro‑mechanical subsystems. The role will participate with multi‑functional teams to design, develop, and test groundbreaking medical devices, and understand the system from both a technical perspective and the user’s viewpoint. The Engineer will drive development and performance of the Monarch system.

Responsibilities
  • Develop complex test methods to accurately characterize and verify the system design against performance requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical/marketing, program management, and engineering design teams.
  • Serve as a cross‑functional lead championing system performance characterization and Design Verification testing.
  • Lead Design Verification phase for various New Product Development Projects.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Perform testing, analyze results, and make data‑based recommendations to the team.
  • Build prototypes and fixtures for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Work cross‑disciplinarily to provide hands‑on system troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Utilize sound engineering methods and documentation processes to perform design reviews and failure mode analyses.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent university degree in Biomedical, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical or any related engineering field.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s or equivalent degree in the same fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry or research experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, mechatronics, systems and sensors, and/or electronics and software.
  • Proven track record in leading Design Verification testing, performance characterization, and requirements management for a complex product.
  • Proficiency in developing complex test methods including fixturing and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in statistics analysis.
  • Experience developing automated or semi‑automated test methods.
  • Experience using instrumentation and data acquisition systems for performance testing.
  • Intermediate Python or MATLAB coding experience.
  • Experience with Linux and development in Linux environments.
  • Experience in methodical problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations preferred (e.g., FDA CFR Part 820 and/or ISO 13485).
Preferred
  • Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, SQL, or C++.
  • Experience with robotic control algorithms.
  • Proficiency with Solid Works.
  • Experience in the medical device industry.
Other
  • May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other locations and sites.

Anticipated base pay range: $ – $. Additional benefits include a consolidated retirement plan (401(k)), long‑term incentive program, vacation (120 hours per calendar year), sick time (40 hours per calendar year, with 48 hours for Colorado residents and 56 hours for Washington residents), holiday pay (13 days per calendar year), personal and family time (up to 40 hours per calendar year), parental leave (480 hours within one year), bereavement leave (240 hours, with 40 hours for extended family), caregiver leave (80 hours in a 52‑week rolling period), volunteer leave (32 hours per calendar year), and military spouse time‑off (80 hours per calendar year).
