Senior Systems Test Engineer – Santa Clara, CA
We are seeking a Senior Systems Test Engineer to lead system‑level testing and characterization of capital equipment products, including software, electrical, and electro‑mechanical subsystems, for our Med Tech Surgery team. The role involves working with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and test groundbreaking medical devices, ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Develop complex test methods to accurately characterize and verify system design against performance requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical/marketing, program management, and engineering design teams.
- Lead Design Verification (DV) testing and champion system performance characterization for new product development projects.
- Provide guidance to junior team members.
- Perform testing, analyze results, and make data‑based recommendations.
- Build prototypes and fixtures for data acquisition and analysis.
- Work cross‑disciplinarily to provide hands‑on system troubleshooting and debugging.
- Utilize sound engineering methods and documentation processes to conduct design reviews and failure mode analyses.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, or a related engineering field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in industry or research.
- Knowledge of mechanical design, mechatronics, systems, sensors, electronics, and software.
- Proven track record in leading DV testing, performance characterization, and requirements management for complex products.
- Proficiency in developing complex test methods, including fixturing and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis.
- Experience developing automated or semi‑automated test methods.
- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems for performance testing.
- Intermediate Python or MATLAB coding experience.
- Experience with Linux and Linux development environments.
- Methodical problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations preferred (e.g., FDA CFR Part 820, ISO 13485).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multifunctional team.
- Advanced proficiency with Python, MATLAB, SQL, or C++.
- Experience understanding robotic control algorithms.
- Proficiency with Solid Works.
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Base pay range: $ – $.

- Vacation: 120 hours per calendar year.
- Sick time: 40 hours per calendar year (48 hours in Colorado; 56 hours in Washington).
- Holiday pay, including floating holidays: 13 days per calendar year.

- Parental leave: 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child.
