Strategic Sourcing Manager Summary
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager with a strong Electronic Engineering background to lead strategic sourcing, supplier management, and supply continuity initiatives for critical electronic and optical components used in high‑speed optical transceivers and AI networking products. The ideal candidate combines deep technical understanding of semiconductor and optical module technologies with established executive‑level relationships across leading semiconductor suppliers.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for semiconductors, ICs, DSPs, drivers, TIAs, laser control ICs, power management devices, memory, and other active electronic components used in optical networking products.
- Build and maintain executive‑level strategic relationships with key semiconductor manufacturers, distributors, and ecosystem partners.
- Drive supplier selection, qualification, and performance management processes to ensure optimal quality, delivery, cost, and technology roadmaps.
- Establish multi‑source strategies where applicable to improve supply chain resilience and mitigate single‑source risks.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, allocation, supply agreements, long‑term commitments, and strategic partnerships.
- Develop and execute cost‑reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, design optimization, alternate sourcing, and value engineering activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve total cost of ownership while maintaining performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and commodity cost management activities.
- Partner closely with Engineering and R&D teams on component selection, technical evaluation, lifecycle management, and supplier technology assessments.
- Support NPI programs by securing samples, engineering support, and production capacity commitments.
- Participate in design reviews to evaluate sourcing risks, second‑source opportunities, and long‑term component availability.
- Collaborate with Product Development teams to align sourcing strategies with technology roadmaps.
- Monitor semiconductor market conditions, technology trends, pricing dynamics, lead times, and capacity developments.
- Provide proactive market intelligence and risk assessments to senior management.
- Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions, allocation situations, geopolitical risks, and component obsolescence.
- Maintain visibility into supplier financial health, manufacturing footprint, and strategic direction.
- Negotiate and manage strategic sourcing agreements, NDAs, LTAs, and supply contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable U.S. and international regulations.
- Support supplier audits and governance programs focused on quality, sustainability, and business continuity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5+ years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience in the semiconductor, electronics, optical module, or networking industries.
- Proven relationships with leading semiconductor suppliers, including ADI, TI, MPS, Broadcom, Marvell, MACOM, and Semtech.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor components, electronic supply chains, and supplier management.
- Experience in supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and supply continuity planning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Fluent English required;
Mandarin is a plus. - Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in optical modules, AI hardware, data center networking, or telecommunications.
- Background in electronic engineering, hardware design, or R&D.
- Experience supporting NPI, component qualification, and technology roadmap planning.
- Knowledge of DSPs, TIAs, laser drivers, and other high‑speed optical communication components.
Base salary range: $100,000 – $189,260. In determining rate of pay, Amphenol considers a variety of nondiscriminatory factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant industry experience, qualifications, skills, and education.
