- Manages a mechanical engineering group with responsibility for mechanical systems and equipment design function, staffing, technical mentoring, professional and personal development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.
- Develops and sustains supervisors/technical leaders for key areas of responsibility and ensures budget adherence.
- Technically leads and/or executes engineering projects/programs.
- Ensures customer satisfaction via on time delivery of product releases and prompt resolution of extremely complex issues for entire range of products.
- Integrates engineering resources with cross-functional teams to meet product goals for the unit's product line.
- Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding extremely complex engineering issues to address high value problems.
- Provides management with updates on program progress and ensures information is disseminated to other functional areas.
- Defines, develops, and sustains product strategy, objectives, and roadmap.
- Guides programs for research and development of new technologies related to mechanical engineering and ensures new processes, designs, and methodologies are incorporated into Applied Materials products/services.
- Ensures full range of technical reviews are held.
- Strong background in etch equipment development.
- Experience with inductively coupled plasma (ICP) source design & integration.
- Plasma process hardware and subsystem development.
- Cross‑functional product execution in high‑volume semiconductor environments.
- Strong leadership skills managing multiple related teams, setting organizational priorities and allocating resources.
- Advanced problem‑solving abilities identifying and resolving complex technical, operational and organizational problems.
- Business expertise: in-depth understanding of how mechanical engineering integrates within the segment/function.
- Interpersonal skills: influences others internally and externally, including senior management.
- Understanding of global standards of business conduct and compliance with these standards at all times.
