Responsibilities
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, and control systems—including oil‑free air systems, HVAC systems, chilled water plants, boilers, and environmental compliance exhaust—to support data centers, research labs, and facility operations.
  • Support daily safety, reliability, and environmental compliance objectives for all mechanical systems.
  • Design, analyze, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment; provide evaluations, recommendations, and solutions to resolve complex problems.
  • Develop engineering scopes of work, conduct feasibility studies, and review design for mechanical projects.
  • Oversee industrial instrumentation and automation systems used for maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and programming of analytical instrumentation.
  • Design, develop, and maintain control systems; conduct root‑cause failure analysis and manage long‑term improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a partner to business units, providing engineering solutions to meet operational goals.
  • Work closely with operations teams and service providers to ensure systems are maintained within specified limits.
  • Develop and execute a system roadmap and asset replacement strategy to ensure reliability and capacity for facility expansions, renovations, and growth initiatives.
  • Guide and mentor other engineers and serve as team lead for mechanical and controls engineering initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum: 3+ years of field experience with mechanical systems (HVAC, fans, boilers, chillers, pumps, piping, valves) and control systems (instrumentation, PLCs).
  • Preferred: 3+ years supporting data centers and/or advanced laboratories.
  • Preferred:
    Experience transitioning from hands‑on roles to system ownership and vendor‑driven maintenance oversight.
  • Preferred:
    Proven mentorship and leadership of technical teams in critical environments or large‑scale facilities.
  • Preferred:
    Ability to analyze and resolve immediate and systemic equipment issues; experience with troubleshooting techniques and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
