Job Title: Lead Service Now Developer Backend
Location: Santa Clara, CA
Experience: 5–10+ years overall experience, with strong hands-on Service Now UI development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Now Developer with strong expertise in modern UI development using Lit.js and the Service Now Next Experience UI Framework
. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance user interfaces and custom applications on the Service Now platform. This role requires deep understanding of Service Now UI architecture, component-based development, and seamless integration with backend Service Now services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop modern, reusable UI components using Lit.js within the Service Now UI Framework
  • Build responsive and accessible user interfaces aligned with Service Now Next Experience standards
  • Customize and extend Service Now Work spaces and Portal experiences
  • Develop UI components for custom Service Now applications and scoped apps
Platform Customization & Scripting
  • Develop and maintain Client Scripts, UI Policies, Business Rules, Script Includes, and UI Actions
  • Implement server-side logic using JavaScript and Glide APIs
  • Optimize UI and script performance following Service Now best practices
Integration & APIs
  • Consume REST APIs and Service Now Table APIs from UI components
  • Work with Integration Hub, REST/SOAP integrations, and external systems as needed
  • Ensure secure data handling and role-based access controls
UX, Performance & Quality
  • Ensure UI components meet accessibility (WCAG) and usability standards
  • Collaborate with UX designers to translate wireframes into functional UI components
  • Debug, test, and optimize UI components for performance and scalability
Collaboration & Delivery
  • Work closely with platform architects, backend developers, and business analysts
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Provide technical guidance and code reviews for junior developers
Required

Skills & Qualifications Service Now  Core Skills
  • Strong experience with Service Now platform development
  • Solid understanding of Next Experience UI Framework
  • Hands-on experience with Service Now UI Builder and Work spaces
Frontend & Lit.js
  • Proven experience developing UI components using Lit.js
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3
  • Experience with component-based architecture and web standards
Scripting & APIs
  • Expertise in Glide APIs and Service Now scripting
  • Experience consuming and building REST APIs
  • Knowledge of Service Now data model and CMDB concepts
Tools & Practices
  • Experience with source control systems (Git)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with Service Now ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, or Custom Apps
  • Knowledge of UI performance optimization and accessibility standards
  • Exposure to Angular

    JS (legacy Service Now UI) for migration projects
  • Service Now CSA or CAD certification
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
