• Expert Advisory:
  Serve as legal point of contact for product and engineering teams, providing expert-level guidance on the EU AI Act, CO AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, NIST, and other regulations and frameworks.
• Product Lifecycle Integration:
  Provide legal guidance for new products and features on issues related to privacy and AI throughout the product development lifecycle, including "Privacy-by-Design" and "AI-Ethics-by-Design" initiatives. You will not just oversee policy development, but deeply integrate with the development sprint cycles to review features, data usage, and model training protocols.
• Complex Problem Solving:
  Tackle ambiguous legal challenges where precedent may not yet exist, such as automated decision making technology considerations, bias mitigation in algorithms, and cross-border data transfer impact assessments.
• Policy Development:
  Contribute to cross-functional work streams to develop and implement internal, scalable processes and policies for responsible AI.
• Advanced Negotiations:
  Handle complex, high-value data processing agreements (DPAs) and AI-specific addendums, serving as the escalation point for the commercial legal team on privacy and AI hurdles.
• Regulatory Monitoring:
  Independently monitor and interpret global regulatory shifts, translating "legalese" into actionable technical requirements for the business.
• Privacy Operations:
  Support DPIAs, data mapping, vendor assessments, data subject requests, and data governance improvements.
• Training:
  Develop internal playbooks and training to raise awareness and knowledge of privacy and AI considerations.

• Education:
  
  JD Degree and Active State Bar Membership; CIPP/CIPM certifications a plus.
• Experience:
  
  Generally requires 8–12 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, with a significant emphasis on product counseling and US and EU privacy and AI law.
• Subject Matter Expertise:
  Proven track record in Product Counseling, specifically within SaaS, AI, or high-growth tech environments.
• Technical Literacy:
  Ability to "speak engineer"—understanding how APIs, MCPs, LLMs, and data pipelines function is critical to providing relevant legal advice.
• Operational Excellence:
  Experience creating streamlined, scalable legal processes (e.g., automated privacy impact assessments) to support a high‑velocity engineering organization.
• Communication:
  Ability to distill complex regulatory concepts into pragmatic, business‑minded guidance for executive stakeholders.
