Position: Information Technology Technician (Events)

Position Summary

The Department of Information Technology seeks an Information Technology Technician (Events) to perform technical duties related to instructional and classroom technology, provide project support for new and modified systems, and install and configure audio visual, computers, and related equipment.

Assignment

100% full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, anticipated start September 14, 2026. May include evening or weekend hours.

Mission College, Santa Clara, CA.

Salary and Benefits

Hired at $9,817.67 – $10,734.17 monthly (WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 72, Steps A-C). Benefits include employment medical, dental, vision; long‑term disability; voluntary life insurance; 14 paid holidays plus one floating holiday; paid non‑workdays between Christmas and New Year; 12 days vacation leave accrued annually (up to 22 days), 12 days sick leave; personal and business leave; educational growth incentive $45–$225 monthly;

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in instructional systems or related field.
  • Two years of responsible technical instructional technology experience.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse student, faculty, and staff backgrounds and needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting audiovisual and event technology in higher education, performing arts, conferences, or corporate events.
  • Experience operating, configuring, and troubleshooting audiovisual systems (projection, sound reinforcement, video conferencing, digital signage, classroom tech).
  • Experience coordinating technical support for live events, meetings, performances, commencements, and special events.
  • Experience supporting platforms such as Q‑SYS, Crestron, Extron, Biamp or similar.
  • Experience supporting Zoom, Microsoft Teams, lecture capture, live streaming, and hybrid event technologies.
  • Experience supporting desktop and laptop computers, instructional software, and related classroom technology.
  • Experience maintaining audiovisual and computing equipment inventories and managing lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service in fast‑paced, customer‑facing environments.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic instructional technology systems and operational characteristics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, diagnose issues, develop solutions, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and modify computer, audio visual, and communications equipment.
  • Train less experienced staff and write procedures and documentation.
  • Perform instructional technology hardware and software support duties.
  • Manage multiple priorities, provide on‑call service during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prioritize, and review staff work on IT support duties.
  • Develop schedules and methods to accomplish assignments timely and efficiently.
  • Evaluate staff activities, recommend improvements, and coordinate training.
  • Implement and maintain remote support systems for faculty and staff computers.
  • Assist customers with desktop and server technologies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, district employees, and the public.
  • Foster an inclusive environment embracing diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
  • Be an integral team player, remaining flexible, cooperative, and communicative.
Working Conditions

Work may require long periods at a desk, intermittent walking, bending, stooping, lifting up to 30 pounds, twisting, and use of tools and equipment. On‑call service during off hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required. Standard safety procedures and practices should be followed.
