Overview

The Shopping Convo Foundations Team – Pre‑purchases Science is seeking an Applied Scientist with expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to drive innovation that expands Amazon’s product catalogue. The goal is to leverage AI/ML solutions to enhance catalogue coverage with high precision.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop novel machine learning approaches to solve complex catalogue expansion and product attribute challenges.
• Design and develop state‑of‑the‑art ML models, conduct rigorous experimentation, and translate scientific breakthroughs into production‑ready solutions.
• Work closely with ML Engineers and Software Development Engineers to optimize model performance, ensure scalability, and deploy low‑latency solutions at Amazon scale.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
• PhD or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in computer science, electrical engineering, machine learning or related field.
• Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python or a related language.
• Knowledge in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high‑performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Unix/Linux.
• Professional software development experience.

Benefits

The base salary range for this position is as follows:

• USA, CA, Santa Clara – $ – $ USD annually
• USA, WA, Seattle – $ – $ USD annually

Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
