Job Title: Senior Linux Systems Engineer
About Us: Ampere is a semiconductor company that designs and develops high-performance, energy-efficient processors primarily based on the ARM architecture. We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer with 6+ years of hands‑on experience to join our team and support our diverse infrastructure spanning multiple Linux distributions, virtualization platforms, container technologies, and high-performance computing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers running RHEL, Ubuntu, and Rocky Linux.
- Deploy and administer virtualization platforms such as KVM, XEN, VMWare or similar hypervisors.
- Design, implement, and support storage solutions including SAN, NAS, and distributed storage systems.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
- Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (or Open Shift).
- Provide support for High‑Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, including job scheduling, performance tuning, and parallel file system management.
- Collaborate with Dev Ops teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices.
- Monitor system performance, security, and availability; perform regular updates and patching.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in knowledge sharing.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to critical incidents as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience administering Linux systems, specifically RHEL, Ubuntu, and Rocky Linux.
- Strong expertise in virtualization technologies (KVM, XE, VMWare, etc.).
- Experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and distributed file systems like Ceph.
- Proficiency with Dev Ops tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD.
- Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with HPC environments, job schedulers (Slurm, LFS), and parallel file systems (Lustre, GPFS) is highly desirable.
- Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and lead within a team environment.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Preferred
Certifications:
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent
The pay range for this role is $120k- $130k per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
