Safety Manager
OverviewThe Safety Manager is tasked with implementing and overseeing safety programs that ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role is crucial in preventing accidents, minimizing risks, and fostering a culture of safety across electrical construction sites. A proactive leader is essential, as the position requires collaboration with project managers, field crews, and regulatory agencies to maintain a secure work environment.
Strong communication skills are necessary, as the manager will engage with diverse groups. The role also demands analytical abilities for effective risk assessment and incident investigation, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
$80,000 - $110,000 / Year DOE
Responsibilities- Enforce safe work practices, hazard control measures, and emergency protocols
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities
- Perform risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHA) for electrical construction tasks
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and suggest improvements to prevent recurrence
- Work with project managers to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for specific projects
- Lead safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors
- Provide safety orientation for new hires and subcontractors to ensure understanding of safety policies and procedures
- Develop project‑specific safety plans, including hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies
- Ensure all staff understand and follow safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to discuss potential hazards and reinforce safe work practices
- Stay updated on the latest safety trends and regulations, updating training materials as needed
- Serve as the primary contact for all safety‑related issues
- Coordinate with external agencies during inspections, audits, or incidents
- Prepare and present regular safety reports to senior management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement
- Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and near misses, identifying root causes and taking corrective actions
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization
- Regularly observe workers on‑site to ensure adherence to safe work practices and provide feedback
- Mentor site supervisors and employees on safety best practices
- Recognize and reward employees for outstanding safety performance
- Construction experience
- 2+ years of experience as a safety manager in construction or electrical
- OSHA Outreach Trainer, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar credentials
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NEC standards, and other relevant safety regulations
- Electrical construction experience is preferred
- Familiarity with the latest safety technology and software is preferred
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage at 100% for employees and 80% for family members, with a waiting period of the 1st of the month after 60 days
