Director of Nursing
Job Title
Lead Labor & Delivery operations in a 24/7 hospital environment and ensure safe, high‐quality maternal and neonatal care. Manage a high‐volume L&D unit (400+ deliveries per month) and oversee all aspects of patient care, staffing, and workflow. Supervise and develop nursing staff, including coaching, performance feedback, and succession planning. Translate hospital business plans into unit‐level action items, track performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
Manage budgets, payroll, and non‐payroll resources, and ensure cost‐effective, compliant operations. Implement and maintain quality, safety, and regulatory standards (Nursing Practice Act, Joint Commission, state/federal requirements). Lead emergency preparedness planning, mock drills, and post‐event recovery for the L&D unit. Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other clinical leaders to align care delivery and optimize patient outcomes.
BSN required; MSN strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical operations, business operations, or a directly related healthcare leadership field. Minimum 4 years of leadership experience (with or without direct reports). 5+ years of experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) or Department Manager in Labor & Delivery.
California RN license required and NRP certifications required erience managing mom/baby care and a high‐volume L&D unit is strongly preferred.
